Job DescriptionA well-established MRO facility in Augusta, GA, is a hub of innovation and growth, supporting an extensive range of aircraft models, including Falcon, Hawker, Challenger, Learjet, Gulfstream, and Embraer. With a significant expansion underway, the facility is doubling its footprint in the coming year. Specializing in Business Aviation, the facility focuses on 22 models of aircraft on the Airframe side, while the Engine Shop performs comprehensive overhauls on Honeywell HTF7000 and TFE731 engines, APUs, and diagnostics in state-of-the-art Test Cells.
As an Aircraft Painter, you will be responsible for preparing and applying paint to both the interior and exterior surfaces of aircraft, ensuring a high-quality finish that meets or exceeds customer expectations. You will work closely with specifications, color sketches, and instructions to plan and execute the paint process efficiently. This role requires proficiency in paint preparation, application, and equipment maintenance, with a strong emphasis on safety and adherence to company policies.
What You Will Do:- Apply aerodynamic sealer and mask aircraft using tapes and paper products to protect sensitive areas such as windows, seals, struts, and cables in preparation for painting.
- Mix, blend, and thin paint products according to manufacturer’s maintenance manual specifications.
- Apply various types of paint, including urethanes, acrylic urethanes, enamels, lacquers, and epoxy paints, to both interior and exterior aircraft surfaces.
- Interpret specifications, color sketches, and instructions to plan the painting operation, including mixing ratios, surface preparation, papering and masking, drying times, and number of coats.
- Maintain painting supplies and equipment, such as spray guns, air hoses, pumps, paper, and tape.
- Document all work accomplished in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.
- Follow, promote, and continuously improve company policies and procedures.
- Work overtime and travel to customer locations or other facilities as required.
- Observe all safety, environmental, and general housekeeping rules and policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the department.
Basic Qualifications:- Minimum 5 years of Paint Booth experience in the Automotive and/or Aviation industries.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, walk, bend, stretch, and climb ladders.
- Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:- Minimum 3 years of aircraft painting experience.
- Experience in Corporate or Business Aviation.
- Experienced with silk-print paint applications.
- Extensive knowledge of various types of paints, thinners, and applications.
- OSHA / HAZMAT training or certifications.
