Kenn Borek Air (KBA)is a diversified worldwide aircraft charter and leasing operation. The KBA team is currently seeking an Automotive/Aviation Painter.
The Automotive/Aviation Painter directly reports to the Paint Shop Manager for guidance on tasks, work priorities, and any issues that arise. They are responsible for communicating any challenges related to the painting process, materials, equipment, or safety concerns. The Painter works closely with the Paint Shop Manager to resolve issues quickly and ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Major Responsibilities of the Role:
- Keep all workshop areas, including materials and paint cabinets, clean, stocked, and organized at all times.
- Regularly check stock levels of paint and materials and report any low quantities for reordering.
- Report any broken tools, worn out or misused parts hanging hardware at once
- Use all the provided tools, parts hanging hardware as intended, and not to not deviate from its sole purpose of use
- Ensure that all equipment is functioning properly and is in good condition.
- Adhere to all instructions and procedures related to priming, painting, metal treatment, seam sealing, and body filler as outlined in the product instructions provided at the paint shop podium.
- Follow all guidelines in the Paint Shop Procedures Manual, which is supplied and kept at the paint shop podium.
- Immediately report any defects or mistakes found during the paint process to the Paint Shop Manager.
- Inspect all parts or areas of the aircraft before beginning work. Ensure all areas are free from issues like missed bodywork, voids in seam sealing, missed or light metal treatment, or missed masking. If minor discrepancies are found, the painter can fix the areas of concern but should notify the prep department of the issues.
- Work closely with other painters and paint preppers as required during the paint process.
- Be briefed on the task at hand before commencing work when joining another painter or preppers work scope. Follow the lead of the person overseeing the project when working with another painter or prepper.
- Ensure that the area to be painted is free from defects and is ready to paint when more than one painter is involved. Take responsibility for the area you are applying primer and paint to.
- Complete all required inspection forms and documents related to the work being done.
- Brief and mentor junior paint department personnel on the proper use of sanders, die grinders, proper masking techniques, moving and hanging flight controls and parts, and safe use of ladders around aircraft.
- Teach junior personnel the importance of safety in and around aircraft and intervene when necessary to avoid damage to the aircraft or personnel.
- Provide training on the paint procedures as outlined in the paint shop procedures.
- Immediately notify the Paint Shop Manager if any personnel are deviating from the established paint shop procedures or not following proper safety procedures immediately
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Paint Shop Manager, including tasks not explicitly covered in this job description.
