JOB SUMMARY:

To guide, instruct, and work with a group of paint workers performing painting assignments on new delivery and customer-owned aircraft.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working from oral and written instructions and established shop practices, perform a variety of painting assignments to meet quality control inspection and customer acceptance.
    • Checks daily work assignments with shop supervision. May examine completed aircraft for discrepancies, determines extent of rework and performs the more complicated painting assignments.
    • Orders paint supplies, cleans and services spray guns, paint pots, hoses and other spray painting equipment.
  • Works in accordance with general safety practices and regulations.
  • May provide estimates to management for time and material cost of jobs.
    • Apply filters, prep, prime, and paint small and large surfaces to include items as large as fuselage, tails, and wings.
  • Work with company personnel and outside vendors to ensure quality enhancing products/techniques are used.
  • May be required to repair or refinish cabinetry and other interior items.
  • Keep inventory of supplies and order in advance to assure needed items are on hand
  • Perform blends as needed
  • Ensures the work assignments by lower grade painters are completed in a timely manner and meets all quality standards.
  • Work with internal customers to assure aircraft is on schedule and within budget.
  • Guides and instructs a small group performing painting assignments.
  • Work closely with EHS Manager to ensure haz-mat compliance.
  • Work with company personnel and outside vendors to ensure quality enhancing products/techniques are used.
  • Responsible for leading, guiding, and directing other employees on production needs.
  • Responsible for training new and current production support specialist team members on processes and procedures
  • To ensure paint usage is tracked for air reporting purposes.
    Job Requirements:

    EDUCATION:

    • High School Diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification required.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum 5 years of relative aircraft, automotive, or other specialized vehicle spray painting experience.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must be able to obtain and maintain an airport security badge through the local airport authority, if applicable
    • Ability to interpret simple drawings, apply simple arithmetic and use some measuring instruments.
