GENERAL:

This position offers a minimum guarantee of seventy-two (72) hours per month, with reporting directly to the Chief Pilot. The successful candidate will be type-rated on multi-engine aircraft. Preference will be given to those typed on the B-737 aircraft and those who possess a first-class medical certificate. The successful individual must be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of all relevant Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs). Strong communication skills are required, along with the ability to demonstrate the company’s values and culture while collaborating with team members and interacting with customers in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The First Officer (FO) is a key member of the flight crew, working alongside the Captain to ensure the safety and well-being of passengers and cargo, as well as the smooth operation of the flight. The First Officer plays a crucial role in guiding and coordinating the activities of all personnel involved in the various phases of aircraft operation.

  • Operationally responsible to the Captain on all flights
  • Maintain a current first-class medical certificate and notify the Director of Operations, Chief Pilot, or designee, if a medical (physical or mental) condition impairs his/her ability to perform the flight.
  • Perform all flight duties as assigned by the Captain.
  • Assume the authority to act on behalf of the Captain when the Captain is incapacitated.
  • Has knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of the Captain and accepts delegation by the Captain.


QUALIFICATONS:

  • A minimum of 2,000 total flight hours, with at least 500 hours spent operating a turbojet aircraft.
  • Valid FAA ATP License
  • Valid FAA First Class Medical
  • A restricted radiotelephone Operator Permit
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • English proficiency consistent with at least ICAO Level 4 endorsement
  • Passport allowing travel worldwide
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Impeccable safety and training record
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a dynamic environment
  • Bids works schedule by seniority (days, swings, or midnight shifts and holidays)
  • Travel will be required
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol background check, pre-employment DOT drug test, and Criminal History Records Check (CHRC)
  • Must possess a valid U.S. Passport
  • Eligibility to work in the United States (US Passport or Green Card holder)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience on a wide-body aircraft
  • CRM experience


LOCATION:

As a First Officer, you are considered Home-Based as defined below.

  1. You may reside anywhere within the continental U.S. east of Denver. Please note that Denver and Colorado Springs are both considered acceptable home bases.
  2. You must designate a home airport that is within 2 hours of surface travel from your home.
  3. Your home airport must be served by two major airlines (Delta, American, United, or Southwest) and each airline serving your home airport must have a minimum of three flights per day. Several airports are seasonal in nature with increased flying for portions of the year. Should your airport lose frequency, you will be asked to move your home base to an airport that meets these criteria. (Please note, flights on regional feeder airlines such as Envoy or Piedmont that are ticketed under the AA moniker (or United / Delta) are allowed as one of the minimum 3 flights per day.
  4. You will be provided you home-based assignment at the time of hire. You may change your home base a maximum of once every six months. If you would like to change your home base, a request must be submitted to People Services. Upon review of the location and airport, approval will be determined and officially be provided with an effective date. The request must be made at least 30 days in advance of the desired effective date.
  5. You are responsible for all parking and ground transportation expenses associated with your home base.
  6. Please note for Pilots, all reserve rules apply – report time and distance to the airport.
