Job Description:

Our chief/assistant chief pilots play a key role in the success of our company. This Leadership position enables you to provide experience and oversight to flight instructors while continuing to teach students in flight. Chief/assistant chief pilots are responsible for the initial and continuing education of our CFI team and program management for our students to ensure that they are progressing effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures student programs are properly run and make recommendations for the continuous improvement of training.
  • Review individual students’ progress with Flight and Ground training to guarantee each student is receiving the quality education we promise.
  • Provides End of Course (EOC) stage checks for students, and feedback to the recommending instructor that may include re-training.
  • Conducts biweekly CFI meetings with Fixed Wing CFIs and with CFIs based at the respective training location.
  • Reports on student progress and accurately maintain and update all appropriate records.
  • Audits student records and completes 141 student enrollments, and graduation certificates as designated by the chief flight instructor.
  • Ensures that course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met by all assigned students as required by the Training Course Outline.
  • Monitors the maintenance condition of training aircraft and informs maintenance personnel through the appropriate channels of questionable items.
  • Recommends and develops curriculum and course improvements when appropriate.
  • Attends administrative, standardization, in-service training, and instructor development meetings as assigned.
  • Supervise check instructors, general CFIs, and administrative assistants to assist in the performance of the Chief/Assistant Chief Pilot's responsibilities.
  • Manages a team of flight instructors.
  • Update Training Course Outlines as needed.
  • Act as liaison with FAA FSDO
  • Maintain instructor and student records to FAA 141 requirements.
  • Attends monthly leadership meetings.

About the Company
We are a fast-growing flight training program with multiple locations on the Central Florida Gulf Coast. We foresee additional expansion in the future and are seeking a Chief/Assistant Chief Pilot to manage fixed-wing flight training operations. The right individual for this position is effective at cross-departmental communication and customer-facing communication, works well with others, is professional and reliable, and has a desire to actively support the success of students and CFIs (both new and veteran).

Job Requirements:
  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor, Airplane Single Engine Land: Airplane Multi-Engine Land, Instrument
  • First Class Medical
  • Meet the current flight hours requirements set by the FAA under FAR 141.35
  • Knowledge of appropriate Federal Aviation Regulations and related administrative and operational procedures and requirements
