Job Description:

Cirrus Aircraft is searching for a Full-Time Flight Operations Intern in Knoxville, TN from May 2025 through August 2025.

The Flight Operations Intern will gain experience in many different areas within the Flight Operations department while gaining professional experience with a global leader in general aviation manufacturing. The Flight Operations Interns primary responsibility will be supporting The Flight Training Advisors and Fleet Administrator with their day-to-day responsibilities. Some of these responsibilities include; pilot record keeping, flight operations scheduling, invoicing and billing, and assisting with fleet coordination.

Ancillary duties include record keeping, safety management, flight planning and preparation, complex problem solving, mastery of subject matter material, and recommending processes improvements.

Additional duties include acting as pilot in command of Cirrus aircraft while performing 14 CFR part 91 corporate flight operations (demonstration, repositioning, and post-maintenance flights) when needed, and other similar pilot duties.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Adhere to all industry and Cirrus established safety procedures and policies when performing job duties
  • Provide excellent and professional customer service
  • Participate as a member of a team of professional and dedicated employees.
  • Provide support through administrative processes within the Flight Operations department.
  • Develop skills vitally important in todays fast-paced work environment including analytical skills, team-based interaction, goal setting and strategic planning, the ability to work under pressure, listening and organizational skills, among others.
  • Assist the Flight Training Advisors with customer billing, contractor invoice processing, and efficient records keeping processes.
  • Prepares and distributes invoices for both customer training and revenue training events.
  • Make timely and accurate decisions regarding safety of flight.
  • Meticulously record all training event activities and results in pilot training records.
  • Act as pilot in command of Cirrus aircraft while performing corporate flight missions, ferry flights, internal training flights, and demonstration flights.
  • Perform normal pre-flight and post flight inspections as well as clean, fuel, add oil and de-ice fluid, update chart subscriptions, etc.
  • Manage travel expenses in accordance with Cirrus company policies.
  • Continuous learning of the latest developments in the Cirrus Aircraft line of aircraft products.
  • Provide feedback for program improvements.
  • Identify needs to escalate concerns as appropriate.
  • Develop effective methods of safety communication, recordkeeping, ramp operations, and fleet management for flying club functions.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience or License:

  • Currently pursuing a college degree or recent graduate of aviation/professional pilot program required
  • Current and active FAA Commercial Pilot with Instrument Rating required
  • Current 1st or 2nd Class FAA Medical required
  • 200 hours acting as Pilot in Command required

Preferred Education, Experience or License:

  • IFR in congested airspace, mountain flying, extensive IMC, international flight, and night experience preferred
  • Hold current and active Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument Rating preferred
  • Current student studying at an associated University Fleet School preferred
