Job Summary:

----THIS IS A DUAL ROLE POSITION----

Line Pilot:

Reporting to the Air Medical Base Supervisor, and under the general guidance of the Aviation Area Manager and/or Lead Pilot, will safely and expeditiously transport medical personnel, patients, and equipment to and from requested locations in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations, PHI Operations Manuals, and any state, municipal regulations, or customer policies that may apply.

Instructor Pilot and/or Check Pilot:

Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor, Flight Standards, indirect supervision of the Training Manager and the guidance of Check Airmen, provide instruction and conduct qualification evaluations to company pilots and our customers in the operation of specific types of aircraft to include the special procedures and techniques required. While on shift as a line pilot, the instructor pilot / check pilot will assist in the development of training programs, courseware, and other tasks and products for that purpose.

Line Pilot Responsibilities:

  • PHI Air Medical (operating under CAMTS guidelines)
  • 24-hour operations (day/night rotation)
  • If successful applicant requires aircraft transition - 1 year minimum service requirement per CBA
  • Relocation package is available - If relocation package is utilized - 2 year minimum service requirement per CBA
  • Housing will not be provided

Check Airman/Instructor Responsibilities:

  • Provide flight and/or ground instruction and evaluations to pilots.
  • Identify errors or shortcomings on the students performance, bringing these to his/her attention, demonstrating correct techniques or procedures as applicable.
  • Record training performance on appropriate forms.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of company aircraft while conducting instruction and evaluations.
  • Demand skillful accomplishment of emergency procedures.
  • Instruct in company operations and special requirements of our customers.
  • Ensure that all students are thoroughly knowledgeable of all applicable FAA and company operating rules.
  • Evaluate all aspects of student performance, ability, skill and knowledge to determine their adequacy to perform the duties of a PHI Line Pilot.
  • Recommend to management whether a student should be considered qualified or if additional training or disqualification is indicated.
  • If approved as a Check Pilot, conduct qualification checks on pilots.
  • Assist the Manager, Training and the Supervisor, Flight Standards in reviewing and updating Pilot Training Curriculum, training program courseware, and other documents as requested.
  • Complete all required training forms neat and correct.
  • Perform all other tasks as directed from company officers and the Supervisor, Flight Standards.
  • Responsible for supporting company Safety Management System activities.
  • Comply with company HS&E policies and procedures.
  • Promote PHIs Destination Zero initiative at the line level.
  • Maintain currency.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Other:

  • External search may run concurrently with internal job posting.
  • Successful applicant will participate in community outreach programs and adhere to PHI Air Medical policies.
  • Some lifting will be required to assist in the loading and unloading of patients and equipment.
  • Perform line pilot duties IAW GOM.
  • Support Safety Management System, Destination Zero, and other company safety campaigns.
  • Work with both internal and external customers to provide safe, efficient, courteous, and reliable service.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • Airline Transport Pilot Airplane Multi-engine Land
  • First Class Medical
  • 3,000 hours Total Time//2,000 hours Fixed Wing // 1,000 hours Fixed Wing Multi-Engine PIC Turbine // 250 Night, 100 hours Fixed Wing Night // 200 IMC, 75 hours Actual IMC // 50 Hours Fixed Wing Turbine in last 12 months
  • Candidates must meet 235 pounds body weight.
  • PC-24 Qualified & Current Preferred
  • 2 Years EMS Experience Preferred // 150 Hours Night Time or 10 Hours Night Time in Past 36 Months Preferred // BE200 Current and Qualified Preferred // 200 Hours in Type Preferred // 10 Hours Instrument Time in Past 36 Months Preferred
  • Strong Communication, Internal and External Customer Service Skills
  • Interview and acceptance by customer
  • Must be able to pass pre-placement physical exam including functional capacity exam (strength and flexibility assessment, lift 100 pounds), drug screening and background screen
  • Demonstrated Internal and External Customer Service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Certified Flight Instructor Certificate
  • Certified Flight Instructor- Instrument Certificate for IFR assignments
  • Minimum two years-experience as an Air Medical Line Pilot
  • Interview with Manager of Training and Supervisor, Flight Standards required.
  • Instructional Demonstration of 10-15 minutes using PowerPoint or other presentation media required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, excel, PowerPoint, and company used software and applications.

Schedule and Location:

  • Schedule 7/7, Day of week the base changes schedules, and schedule change may be required.
  • Must live within 1-hour commute from the base.
  • Travel away from your assigned base will be on an as needed basis, and travel to the annual company Instructor Meeting is required.
