The Technical Publication Lead position at Fulcrum Concepts, LLC oversees the Technical Publications Team including managing project tasks and deadlines so that man-hours are properly allocated, and ensuring project requirements are effectively communicated to tech writers and illustrators. The Tech Pubs Lead will interface with engineering and production as well as with the graphics section and remote tech writers.

Job Requirements:
  • Oversees Technical Publications Team to include managing project tasks and deadlines so that man-hours are properly allocated, and project requirements are effectively communicated to tech writers and illustrators
  • Develops, writes, and edits material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposal solicitations, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, installation, operation, and maintenance of defense and aerospace products
  • Determines the needs of end users of technical documentation
  • Gathers usability feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturersInterfaces with technical professionals in the writing, editing, and publication of various types of documents such as specifications, manuals, reports, plans, training material, and presentations
  • Plans, designs, writes, edits, proofreads and finalizes documents, technical manuals, orders, specifications, modification work orders, and test plans, procedures and resultsUses photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts that increase users’ understanding
  • Researches a variety of assigned topics and develop writing plans and outlines
  • Assists in the development of supporting materials (illustrations, tables, etc.)
  • Provides quality assurance check for all document deliverablesUtilizes appropriate computer software for document test production
  • Investigate and implement the best ways for product documentation electronically
  • Establishes and maintains electronic and/or hardcopy data library of documents and work order files for documents received for processing
  • Tracks and monitors flow of all documents from inception to the distribution of final copies
  • Organizes and writes supporting documents for products
  • Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift light loads as necessary
  • Ability to operate in a clerical, office setting, routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills§Strong organizational and analytical skills§Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers  
  • Ability to effectively present information§Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents
  • Ability to solve problems involving several options§Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skillsProficient in MS Office Products (MS Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Heavy emphasis on the use of Adobe Acrobat Pro DC and Adobe InDesign CC
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and other engineering resources
  • Familiarity with Solidworks, Adobe Photoshop CC (basic) and Adobe Illustrator
  • Ability to use query and report generation tools; must be comfortable with technology
  • Decisions made with an understanding of procedures and organizational policies to achieve defined results and deadlines
Additional skills that are not required but beneficial include:
  • Knowledge of applicable military standards, specifications, and test practices
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-40051, S1000D, IADs, and/or IETMs
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Writing or Publishing related field
  • Master’s degree or 10+ years managing staff in a publishing environment preferred
Salary Range: 50,000.00-70,000.00
