U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary (9WR)

The Coast Guard Auxiliary 9th Western Region proudly supports Sector Lake Michigan with Nine Divisions spread throughout the applicable portions of Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan.

Our volunteer members work as part of the Coast Guard family to promote and improve recreational boating safety by offering a variety of Boating Education classes and Vessel Safety Checks; support Coast Guard maritime homeland security efforts by participating in marine safety events and support the Coast Guard's operations, administrative and logistical requirements by means of many specifically trained members with special skills.

The Auxiliary has units in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and Guam. Under the direct authority of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security via the Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard, the Auxiliary's internally operating levels are broken down into four organizational levels: Flotilla, Division, District and National.
