Kamaka Air is a part 135 cargo operation providing scheduled and on-demand service throughout the Hawaiian Islands. We operate a fleet of five Cessna Caravans 208B and a 408 SkyCourier. We are a growing company with room for further expansion.
East West Avionics is a subsidiary of Kamaka Air. East West Avionics is a long-established repair station that is both the Textron single engine and Caravan AFS and the Garmin Dealership covering the state of Hawaii. We service both part 23 and part 25 aircraft covering both part 91 and part 135 aircraft.
Job Summary
The Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic is part of our maintenance team and is responsible for aircraft maintenance and repairs, quality control, and assurance. They are also responsible for continuously learning about new aircraft systems and staying abreast of new aircraft technology and regulatory changes.

Job Responsibilities
Aircraft Maintenance and Repairs
- Conduct scheduled inspections (A, B, C, D checks) on airframes and powerplants to ensure compliance with the manufacturer and FAA guidelines.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and structural issues with aircraft components such as engines, landing gear, and hydraulic systems.
- Utilize root cause analysis techniques to identify the underlying causes of aircraft malfunctions.
- Diagnose and repair avionics systems, including navigation, communication, and electrical systems.
- Diagnose and repair structural issues by performing sheet metal repairs and fabrication as needed.
Quality Control and Assurance
- Ensure aircraft systems are calibrated correctly and operating within safety parameters, including testing flight controls, fuel systems, and navigation instruments.
- Identify potential defects in the aircraft’s structure or systems and take corrective actions to prevent future issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks to reduce the likelihood of future breakdowns or failures, ensuring aircraft reliability and minimizing downtime.
- Utilize Coordinate Measuring Machines and calipers to ensure accurate measurements during repairs
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
Continuous Learning and Certification Maintenance
- Stay up to date with the latest aircraft technologies, tools, and regulatory changes through continuous education and training.
- Maintain FAA A&P certification by meeting required training hours and adhering to FAA standards and regulations.
- Obtain additional certifications for specific aircraft models, systems, or advanced technologies to expand expertise.
