Position Overview:
Spirit Aeronautics is seeking a highly skilled Avionics & Maintenance Lead to oversee and execute both advanced avionics installations and aircraft maintenance on corporate aircraft. This dual-role position requires expertise in avionics systems as well as strong proficiency in aircraft mechanical systems and maintenance.
The ideal candidate will lead installation and maintenance projects, mentor junior technicians, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with FAA regulations. Key Responsibilities:
Avionics Responsibilities:
- Lead the installation, troubleshooting, and inspection of avionics systems on business-class jets, including Challenger, Learjet, Citation, Falcon, and Embraer models.
- Perform avionics modifications, including wiring harness fabrication, integration of flight decks, radar systems, communication, and navigation upgrades.
- Interpret and apply aircraft system drawings, wiring diagrams, maintenance manuals, and blueprints.
- Conduct functional and operational tests on avionics components to evaluate performance and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations and Spirit Aeronautics’ Repair Station Manual (RSM) for all avionics installations and repairs.
- Maintain and calibrate avionics test equipment, ensuring proper use and storage.
- Utilize Corridor Aviation Service Software for tracking work order progress and generating logbook entries.
Maintenance Responsibilities:
- Complete all maintenance activities on aircraft as assigned.
- Demonstrate effective maintenance repair techniques using FAA & Industry accepted practices, and tooling.
- Perform advanced aircraft modifications, sheet metal repair, corrosion, landing gear, or engine removals.
- Ensure all work is completed per the maintenance manual, service bulletin, Spirit Avionics RSM, FAA FAR or other approved documentation.
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections, including RVSM certifications, 91.411/91.413 pitot-static checks, and ELT checks.
- Work closely with Quality Inspectors to ensure full compliance with all internal and FAA inspection requirements.
- Provide mentorship to junior technicians and ensure adherence to best practices in both avionics and maintenance disciplines.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are in proper working order.
