Since 1979, CareFlite has provided air and ground ambulance services to Dallas/Fort Worth, TX and surrounding areas. CareFlite is the oldest joint use helicopter program in the United States and the eighth oldest air medical program.
CareFlite, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, operates five helicopter bases, 911, critical and non-critical care ground ambulance, wheelchair van service, fixed wing air ambulance, a state-of-art communications center, and an outreach education program. CareFlite is sponsored by Baylor Health Care System, JPS Health Network, Methodist Health System, Parkland Health and Hospital System and Texas Health Resources (Arlington Memorial, Harris Methodist and Presbyterian Hospitals).
CareFlite currently has a Chief Pilot opening. The CareFlite Chief Pilot oversees CareFlite pilots and reports to the Vice President of Operations. Here is a brief description of the job functions and the qualifications:
This position requires:
1. The candidate meets the requirements of FAR 119.69
2. A background in rotary and fixed wing flight operations
3. Part 135 management experience required. Part 121 management experience a plus.
4. Experience in one or more types of aircraft CareFlite operates: A109E, SPIFR and/or BHT222.
5. Demonstrated leadership and communication skills in managing flight operations and pilots.
6. Instructor and check airman experience a prerequisite.
7. Union experience a plus.
8. Safety and Risk Management experience a plus.
9. College graduate
10. Extensive flight experience
Specific duties are highlighted as follows:
1. Assists the Vice-President/Director of Flight Operations in complying with operations policies and procedures.
2. Advises the Vice-President/Director of Flight Operations on the status of flight operations.
3. Prepares and maintains flight schedules, reports, and correspondence pertaining to Operations activities.
4. Maintains current aircraft publications, base library, and reading files.
5. Prepares all reports required to be submitted to Operations.
6. He may delegate functions to other personnel but retains responsibility. He must be highly knowledgeable of the Operations Manual, FAA Regulations, Operations Specifications, flight manuals, and other instructions pertinent to his duties.
7. Carry out the duties of the Vice-President/Director of Flight Operations in his absence.
8. Assure that CareFlite pilots are properly experienced, trained, and scheduled to meet CareFlite operating requirements.
9. Serve as a CareFlite Instructor Pilot.
10. Maintain CareFlite Pilot Training Records.
11. Ensures all training and flight checks are conducted to the highest standards and are in compliance with the FAR’s and company training program.
12. Exercises operations control by direction or in the absence of the Vice-President/Director of Flight Operations.
13. Other duties as assigned by the Vice-President/Director of Flight Operations
