JSfirm Member Press: West Star Performs Falcon Wing Tank Dry-bay Mod

East Alton, Ill.-based West Star Aviation is offering wing tank dry-bay modifications on Falcon 50s, 900s and 2000s. According to a company spokesman, the mod is designed to comply with the Dassault service bulletin calling for the mandatory modification for all Falcon 50, 900 and 2000 series. The service bulletin is intended to prevent a potential fuel spill during a high-speed runway excursion and consists of adding a sealed boundary to the front of the wing rear spar between ribs four and five. According to West Star Aviation, the dry-bay modification is “labor intensive” because both LH and RH lower wing structural panels (planks) have to be removed for access to accomplish the modification. West Star Aviation recommends the compliance of the mod in conjunction with the next C Inspection. “If you operate a Falcon 50 and are scheduling other maintenance into West Star Aviation such as a C inspection, SB 460 (CPCP Inspection), Collins Pro Line 21 or Universal EFI-890 installation, exterior paint, interior upgrade or the TFE731-4 engine retrofit, this would be a good time to complete the dry-bay mod.”
