Aviation Training Manager

Job Summary

The Aviation Training Manager is responsible for the leadership and day to day operations of assigned aircraft programs. Responsible for Check Pilot schedule. Maintains training schedule for assigned aircraft and informs ACP of reduction of capacity. Develops standards and observes Check Pilot Training. Assists with training of new Check Pilots. Coordinates with ACP for long range capacity. Conducts training and evaluation.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:

• Responsible for the leadership and day to day operations of assigned aircraft programs
• Responsible for Check Pilot schedules
• Assists in development and implementation of flight and ground training schedules
• Maintain the training schedule for assigned aircraft and informs ACP of reduction of capacity
• Assist the ACP to manage FTO requests
• Observe and audit Check Pilot Training
• Assist in training new Check Pilots
• Coordinate with ACP for long range capacity
• Assist the CP and ACP in all pilot record keeping requirements in accordance with applicable FARs and policies to include external records audits
• Will maintain Check Pilot qualification in at least one of the program aircraft
• Will carry out the duties of an Air Methods Check Pilot conducting aircraft ground school, flight training and evaluations
• Assist with covering Check Pilot and training shortages
• Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

While this role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities, the Aviation Training Manager will assist the Chief Pilot and Assistant Chief Pilot with interviewing, selecting, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bachelors degree preferred
• 5 years as an Air Methods Instructor/Check Airman experience preferred
• ATP rating in aircraft category preferred
• Commercial/Instrument rating required
• Must meet total flight hour requirements
